Two Types of Parking Lot Striping

A parking lot is one of the first things noticed by customers, clients, and visitors entering a facility. The color contrast of a newly striped lot is attractive and a good indication the property owner emphasizes maintenance.

A well-marked parking lot directs people safely around the parking area. Crosswalks, stop bars, loading-zone markings, and properly marked pickup areas, inform pedestrians where they should navigate and what areas to avoid.

To help preserve or improve the flow of traffic on a parking lot, our experienced team can lay out new markings according to our customer’s blueprints or we can repaint existing markings that are faded or weathered.

One main goal of any successful parking lot design is to provide the most stalls possible for the most functionality.

The straight-in design (90°) allows maximum stall capacity; however, for a variety of reasons, angled stalls (45°, 60° or 75°) may be preferred. Straight-in stalls are easiest to lay out and stripe and permit two-way traffic. Angled stalls, on the other hand, are easier for drivers to turn into and back out of, and typically require a narrower lane. They also provide a controlled one-way traffic flow and create a herringbone design that many owners find appealing.

General rule of thumb: The greater the angle, the more space used.

For businesses who have either purchased a new property or are constructing an additional parking lot, Under Pressure can design and execute a completely original layout crafted with safety, aesthetics and compliance in mind.

South Louisiana weather can be brutal on paint, so we know that not all jobs need to be started from scratch. Under Pressure’s experts can clean up your existing parking lot striping and get you looking your best again.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted in 1990 to help people with disabilities enjoy fuller and safer lives. This law affects every property owner, large and small. Regardless of your office building size or number of employees, all businesses must have the proper amount of handicapped-accessible parking stalls and required van parking spaces.

For more information about the latest requirements, please view the ADA website here.

Parking Lot Striping Design Considerations

Maximize Space

A property owner aims to get the most cars possible into a parking lot to maintain cost-effectiveness. The right layout and parking lot striping can help meet this goal.

Improve Traffic Flow

Customers want parking lots that allow them to enter, park, and exit quickly and safely. Attractive and properly placed parking stalls, arrows, and handicapped-reserve signs help to efficiently direct travelers

Add Designated Parking

Before parking lot striping, it important to consider whether a parking lot needs designated parking spaces for disabled persons, customers, employees, visitors, or other individuals.

Pavement Marking Procedure

Under Pressure utilizes only the highest quality supplies and the most accurate and up-to-date equipment to get your project completed on time and within budget.

Our parking lot stripers are also equipped and trained to accommodate custom jobs to provide specialized markings or signs for any application.

Preparation involves cleaning the lot of all debris with a power blower or broom and, where applicable, removing old stripes. We will not begin a paint job until all old paint and debris have been removed to ensure a high-quality outcome with a clean and aesthetically pleasing surface. Under Pressure values its customers and will not compromise on the quality of our products and services.

Under Pressure uses industry standard Graco LineLazers as our preferred piece of equipment to install razor-sharp lines on parking lots, roads and our recreational projects. These machines increase our efficiencies allowing our team to flawlessly finish projects in a shorter amount of time, saving you money.

Fast Drying Sherman Williams Paint

We use Sherwin-Williams paints that withstand even the toughest conditions. These special paints are made to dry in minutes, minimizing inconveniences, downtime and disruption. However, don’t let the fast-drying paint fool you! Sherwin-Williams paints have exceptional chemical and dirt resistance and can easily adhere to concrete and asphalt surfaces for long-lasting results.

Sign Installation

Leave the right impression with your visitors. A well-designed and clearly marked parking area makes it easy for customers to find a space to park quickly and easily. You want to prevent customers and employees from confusion or frustration that an unmarked or improperly marked parking lot can create.

All standard parking lot signs, such as handicap and van accessible signs, stop signs and no parking signs are kept in stock for immediate installation. We can have signs custom made specifically for your project. Generally, signs are installed on standard steel ‘U-channel’ posts, however if you need something more specific, simply let us know and we will work to meet your needs.
